Fact: Black never goes out of style. Everyone knows this. Fact: Though simple, a black dress can be flattering and perfect for almost every occasion. I mean, if there’s a single color that’s unanimously loved, it’s always black. And a woman’s closet is not complete without black… and more specifically a black dress.

And cue today’s look of the day!

Overall, I love them…

Three years ago, when I first started my blog, I took a vow that I would never feature overalls on The Style Bungalow. And look at me now.

I don’t know why I was so strongly opposed to wearing overalls when I used to wear jumpsuits all the time? Perhaps it was because overalls reminded me of my awkward middle school years and being teased? Or perhaps it’s because I look much younger than I actually am (we’ll save that topic for another day) and the thought of wearing overalls always felt… adolescent… to me?

Who knows?

Hello, hello! Happy Thursday everyone!

I CAN’T believe we’re less than two weeks away from fashion’s biggest week of the year – New York Fashion Week! I’ve spent the past 48 hours planning like a mad woman. Shopping. Organizing. Making appointments. Booking tickets. You name it. It takes an insane amount of organization to make NYFW look effortless – but I wouldn’t have it any other way!

So get ready! I plan to debut lots and LOTS of new outfits. Most of which, will be carefully curated by yours truly – think, lots of bold colors (I’ve been drawing so much inspiration from color lately), stripes, feminine skirts and dresses and vintage jewelry.

Lightweight Jacket

JACKET, CAP SLEEVE TOP, SHORTS, SANDALS, EARRINGS: (c/o) Ann Taylor/BAG: old – from flea market!/WATCH: (c/o) Michele Watches

As summer winds down and the weather starts to cool, a lightweight jacket is a must to navigating breezy nights on the beach with friends and the approaching new season…

Wait. Who am I kidding? I live in Florida – it’s bound to be scorching hot for another two more months. Aye… * sigh *

SO for those who live outside of Florida, today’s post is for you. If there’s one lightweight outerwear style you should consider now, it’s this one from Ann Taylor.

Self-Worth it

[Chelsae Anne | Photographer]

DRESS: Self-Portrait/BAG: Gucci – similar here, here and here/SANDALS: Gucci/EARRINGS: vintage Chanel/HAT: similar here

I must admit, today’s outfit was a bit of an “impulse” buy. As I was scrolling through Nordstrom for outfits to feature during the Takeover, I saw this dress by Self-Portrait and without hesitation clicked, “add to shopping bag.” Why? Because every time I wear a Self-Portrait dress, I not only feel feminine and beautiful, but so impressed with the quality. Therefore, making the dress 100% worth it.

(Heads up, this dress runs small – I’m wearing an XS and it fits me perfectly but I’m also very petite. If you’re worried about sizing, I suggest ordering a size up or ordering two/returning one. Nordstrom has a fantastic return policy!)

Felt so me…

What. A. Week.

It started with my Liketoknow.it takeover! I knew it would be an incredible opportunity to show 2.5 million followers everything Palm Beach has to offer as well as my style so I went ALL OUT and shared 10 brand new outfits that I felt would resonate with many styles, budgets and body types. Yes, it was a TON of hard work but so worth it. Shout out to my photographer, @ChelsaeAnne, for staying up all night the day before the takeover to edit those pictures! Girl, you’re amazing.

Within days, I gained thousands of new followers from all over the world. And next thing you know, my IG hit 100k. Immediately, my boyfriend (who doesn’t have an IG lol), friends and family sent text messages congratulating me. It felt amazing. A real milestone…

Favorite Basket Bags

In case you haven’t figured out by now, I’m obsessed with basket bags, straw totes and beach bags. Yes, even as we near the tail end of summer – I see myself wearing them all year long. In my mind, they’ve become the accessory of the year. Not only are these bags practical (most of them are pretty affordable) but sturdy and chic when paired with long flowy dresses, worn-in jeans, bright colors, bathing suits – just about anything, really! You can’t go wrong.

Since many of you guys have been asking about my basket collection, I figured I would do a quick round-up of my latest favorites! Here you go!

More midis, please!

SWEATER, MIDI SKIRT, GUCCI SANDALS: Nordstrom/GUCCI BAG: love this one here, here and here/WATCH: (c/o) Michele Watches/EARRINGS: vintage Chanel

Heavy in rotation for the past few years since starting my blog, midi skirts have become one of my all-time favorite closet staples. I have like ten. Maybe twenty? #ThisIsANoJudgementZone They’re fresh and feminine. Demure and proper. And like a hunter in the wild, I can spot them a mile away at department stores, just like I did with this designer version from ALC. #attack

Mark & Graham Faves

Is it me or does it feel like I’ve been living out of a suitcase lately? Between Key West, Bimini, Miami, NYC, Houston (this weekend) and (soon to be) NYC again for Fashion Week (phew), I feel like I’ve barely been home this summer. It’s safe to say, I’m in the thick of vacation season.

Which means, I’ve been spending a lot of time packing… unpacking… packing… unpacking my go-to suitcase. At this point, I’ve become a pro at it!

Woah, Abercrombie

[Chelsae Anne | Photographer]

DENIM VEST, DRESS, BAG: (c/o) Abercrombie/SANDALS: more options here/SCARF: old

Remember high school? Remember the cool kids? Maybe you were one of them. I wasn’t! That’s for sure. (More on that another day…) But I remember one girl in particular who always dressed so well. Think: super low-rise jeans with two polos layered on top of each other and the sweet scent of A&F perfume wafting by me as she took her seat. Every guy wanted to date her. And every girl wanted to be her. Her secret? Abercrombie and Fitch.

Call it my love for fashion at a young age. But I admired the way she dressed; carefully noting how she constructed her outfits. Which, for the most part, we’re fairly simple. Jeans. Signature polos. Cute sandals. Basic tees. Nothing special, really. Just really cute stuff. And all from Abercrombie.
