Stephanie Hill features Currently Loving: 5 Beauty Products on The Style Bungalow

With everything surrounding the coronavirus, or COVID-19, day in and day out, and now being encouraged to stay home and practice social distancing as a measure for mitigating the outbreak — how do we manage?

I feel so grateful to be working from home and creating new content for you these next two weeks. I’m not here to talk about around-the-clock news with you, but figure I’ll stick to what I know because sometimes shifting the focus can help reduce anxiety. So today I’m taking a closer look at my beauty cabinet and ways I’m caring for myself during this time with five beauty products I absolutely swear by. Because if you’re going to wear sweatpants and scrunchies all day, you might as well do it with glowing skin. Am I right?

1. La Crème by Cle de Peau (famously known as one of the most expensive moisturizers on the market, but worth every penny) as well as their everyday Beaute Eye Crème. I’ve been using La Crème at night for two years (as seen here) but they just launched a reformulated version that’s incredible. For those unfamiliar, it’s a groundbreaking anti-aging night cream that targets skin’s potential for self-regeneration at its most active – while you sleep. Their latest iteration contains inflammation reducing green tea extract, which is a yeast that’s known to immediately firm up and hydrate, along with five powerful ingredients like Platinum Golden Silk, Theanine, Japanese Pearl, Perilla and Angelica. It’s not greasy and is acceptable for sensitive skin. Plus, it takes three days to produce, and contains more than sixty ingredients in over one hundred steps…therefore justifying its price tag.

Can’t afford it? I hear you. Consider their Creme Fortifante Intensive as an alternative.

As my mom always says, “If you’re going to invest in two things, it should be shoes and good skin care because both will take you places in life.” Can I get an #amen?!

2. GOOPGLOW 20% Vitamin C + Hyaluronic Acid Serum. I noticed immediate results when I started using this product – it’s a new favorite! We all know Vitamin C does wonders for your skin hydration and brightening. According to French skincare gurus, it’s one of the best things you can put on your skin to change the texture and create a dewy glow. What I didn’t know was how quickly the potency degrades and oxidizes when it comes into contact with water (an integral ingredient in beauty products). When this happens, it loses its ability to deliver results, so GOOP gives you a powder and an acid serum to mix on your own. Once mixed, you have three months to use the product. I’m also using GOOPGLOW Morning Skin Superpowder in my water almost every morning. It’s like a power shot of antioxidants and nutrients designed to reduce free radicals, effects from pollution, stress and premature aging. It also contains a hefty dose of Vitamin C, E and CoQ10, which will help boost your immune system…something we all need right now.

Both products are clean (aka, no toxic chemicals) which continues to matter more than ever as we learn about all the harmful ingredients used in personal-care and beauty products (oftentimes unregulated in the USA).

Just implemented into my routine:

3. Since I loved my Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask so much (a product that was recommended to me during a trip by my former photographer), I couldn’t wait to try their new Summer Fridays Super Amino Gel Cleanser. It’s a gentle, pH-balancing gel cleanser that treats skin to a restoring cocktail of 11 amino acids with a splash of mineral-rich seawater. Having dry-normal skin, I’m usually pretty skeptical to use a new cleanser (most strip away skin) but this one felt moisturizing, light while still managing to remove all my makeup. It’s also a clean beauty product!

4. I don’t use many hair products, but I do spritz Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray on my roots and bangs halfway through drying my hair to give them a little oomph. This product can also be used as an alternative to dry shampoo – absorbing any oil from your hair to create volume, while still looking soft and light. It’s great for all hair types, including color and keratin-treated hair. Bonus points for the added UV protection.

5. I normally use Kerastase shampoo, conditioner and hair mask (occasionally Pantene when I’m traveling) but I’m loving Jen Atkin’s new line of shampoos by Ouai. You can pick your shampoo and conditioner specific to your hair type and while I have fine hair, I have a lot of it so finding a product that works for me is tough. After using Ouai’s shampoo and conditioner for Fine Hair, I’ve noticed my hair has become more light and fresh. The formula feels just as thick as your typical shampoo and lathers up – just enough – without stripping away essential oils (that I need for my hair type). I also haven’t been using hot tools as often (i.e. my curling iron) and have been going very natural with my hair lately. I know beach waves and messy styles have dominated the runways for years, but lately I personally love how fresh and soft my straight hair looks and feels…
