Overall, I love them…

Three years ago, when I first started my blog, I took a vow that I would never feature overalls on The Style Bungalow. And look at me now.

I don’t know why I was so strongly opposed to wearing overalls when I used to wear jumpsuits all the time? Perhaps it was because overalls reminded me of my awkward middle school years and being teased? Or perhaps it’s because I look much younger than I actually am (we’ll save that topic for another day) and the thought of wearing overalls always felt… adolescent… to me?

Who knows?

What I DO know is that overalls have clearly made a huge comeback. And being the style chameleon that I am, I couldn’t help but try them… just once. ONCE.

Express tasked me with styling one outfit from the Petitesection on their website. Obviously, I had many options to choose from but went with these overalls because I thought to myself, “why not.” (In case you missed the announcement earlier this year, Express now has petite-friendly options!)

And surprisingly, they looked really cute on me. I loved the ruffle detail and how chic they looked when styled with a scarf, hoop earrings (for a little South Florida spice, of course), bucket bag and simple mules. All of which can be purchased on their website.

You can get them hemmed and cinched in at the waist to fit closer to your frame. If you have long legs, size up for length or purchase them with the intent of tailoring to be more of a “cropped style.” Otherwise, these overalls fit really nicely without alterations.

Shop today’s look from Express below! Happy Friday everyone!

P.S.: To my family, friends and followers in Texas, my thoughts and prayers are with you today. Experiencing Hurricane Matthew last year was really scary. (I slept in my closet!) Fortunately, everything was OK because the storm took a turn at the last minute and just missed West Palm Beach. So I pray everyone stays safe and is prepared! I’ll be thinking of you all this weekend…
