[Chelsae Anne | Photographer] SHIRT, SHORTS: Topshop/SANDALS: (c/o) Banana Republic – love these too!/BAG: Chloe (c/o) Neiman Marcus/EARRINGS: J.Crew/SUNNIES: Nordstrom Hello, hello! Happy Thursday everyone! I CAN’T believe we’re less than two weeks away from fashion’s biggest week of the year – New York Fashion Week! I’ve spent the past 48 hours planning like a mad woman. Shopping. Organizing. Making appointments. Booking tickets. You name it. It takes an insane amount of organization to make NYFW look effortless – but I wouldn’t have it any other way! So get ready! I plan to debut lots and LOTS of new outfits. Most of which, will be carefully curated by yours truly – think, lots of bold colors (I’ve been drawing so much inspiration from color lately), stripes, feminine skirts and dresses and vintage jewelry. Many people don’t know this about me, but I do everything by myself. I don’t have a manager or a team of people helping me out (with the exception of Chelsea who handles most of the photography on The Style Bungalow). I single handedly do everything on my own. This allows me to protect my brand and to deliver authentic content because I’m in control of it. Yes, it means more work for me (because I’m the one making all the decisions, answering emails, planning, curating, posting, etc.) but again, I wouldn’t have it any other way! The thought of growing my blog into something greater makes me super excited… hence, why I plan to never lose control of it and always keep it real on here! ANYWAYS, today’s outfit was featured during the Takeover last week. (Or two weeks ago? I’m losing my mind track of time…) It was one of my favorites! I love a slouchy button down (yes, it’s meant to look this way) with paper bag shorts. “Fashion is architecture; it is a matter of proportions,” Coco Chanel famously quipped. A lesson that bears so much truth… When putting outfits together, I always start with proportions. Having a ballet background (where we used to alter our leotards to make our legs look longer, our waists slimmer, etc.) I have a good understanding of the human form specifically what works for my body. It’s all about balance. If you have an oversized top on (as pictured) keep it simple below and make sure your bottoms are cinched in at the waist to give you “shape.” You can also try pairing this top with a basic, body-con skirt. Keep it elegant by showing a hint of skin. Balance shorts with a long sleeve top. The same goes with short skirts; I love wearing them with a turtleneck in the fall. Shop today’s look below. Be sure to check back later tomorrow for another look… this time with Express Petites! I’ll be featuring these overalls, mules, bag and scarf! Love this look, very undone yet chic. Nailed it. Also, can’t wait to see your NYFW looks! http://vidafashionista.com/ Reply
