It’s time to break out the leather. Leather is perfect for fall. It’s also the international symbol of cool. No. Joke. Growing up, I watched my favorite Spice Girls fashionista’s rock leather jackets. I associated leather jackets with rebels, rock stars and the cool kids. I wanted to be the same way! [So much in fact, I have a Glamour Shot wearing a leather jacket. When the photographer asked what props I wanted for my photo, I said – “the leather jacket. No bows. Please. And thank you.” Little did he know, this was the start of my blogging career. At like 7 years old.] As I grew older, I would see some of my favorite street style bloggers swing leather jackets over one shoulder or over both shoulders. I thought it was so chic. “The ultimate blogger staple,” I thought. And I needed one. Today, you’ll find chunky sweaters, blazers, jackets, trench coats in my closet but believe it not, no leather jacket. It’s taken me forever to find one that I love. Between the fit, the style, the color, and the cost (because let’s be real, they can get costly), I’ve never pulled the trigger! Until recently… This beautiful, buttery brown leather jacket from Bernardo Outerwear made it’s way into my wardrobe and it’s never leaving. It fits me just right yet comfortable enough to move freely and wear layers underneath. And the leather! The leather is supple and soft. It’s luxe and definitely high quality. And definitely worth every penny. Couple tips for those considering buying a leather jacket… I suggest leather. Vegan won’t last long and wear the same way. With leather, you’ll have it in your closet forever (therefore, justifying the cost-per-wear). Think about color. For me, this color blends in well into my wardrobe. For some, black is better. Or a colored jacket like burgundy for those looking to make a statement. Consider the weight of the jacket. A light jacket is causal. A heavier jacket, with interesting hardware like zippers, studs and bets, is way cooler. It also lends well to cooler temps. Fit and quality are super important too when shopping for a leather jacket! Try it on or contact your local tailor for more information on what to look for. All in all, there’s something so special about the way a leather jacket feels. And I’m so happy with this one! Be prepared to see it A LOT this season. The piping on that skirt is so cool! http://www.kristenskouture.com | Luxury. Fashion. Lifestyle. . Reply
Love this outfit. Big fan of neutrals. I love the collar of the jacket as well as the colour and I’m a big fan of turtlenecks because they’re like a polished sweater. Nice contrast with the skirt and I love your attitude in this shoot. I find it hard to find outerwear that both fits, is flattering, and isn’t tight in the back and the armpits so it’s great you can freely move around in it with it looking so good. I have never bought a really good leather jacket. Only the cheap kind. Probably because I realistically am not usually in the mood for leather jacket edge but I do like having one for those rare occasions. http://www.dressupchowdown.com Reply
