Who Cares About the Weather

SWEATER, DRESS, BOOTS, EARRINGS: (c/o) Express/JACKET – old, love this one!

I once read a quote in Vogue many years ago that said something along the lines of, “you shouldn’t let weather dictate what you wear. Wear what you want…” To me, that means an LBD when it’s snowing. Suede heels when it’s raining. Chunky sweaters when it’s scorching…

All of which, I am guilty of doing (multiple times) for the sake of looking good on a date.

Ask me in the winter if it’s appropriate to wear an LBD to the opening night of the ballet and I’ll say yes (duh). Ask me while it’s raining if I love heels and I’ll tell you that I’m sick of wearing rain boots. Ask me if I care that it’s balmy and hot right now and I’ll stare blankly at you as small beads of sweat drip down my face because I think I look “cute” in my chunky sweater…

Lately, in moments of doubt where I question whether or not my fellow friends in warm places will enjoy my “inappropriate” fall looks, I refer back to that quote in Vogue and proceed. [paints nails emoji]

So cue today’s look from Express. Dark colors. A chunky oversized sweater. Statement booties. YAS for it being 90 degrees out and sweltering hot.

Not to sound cliché or anything, but this outfit is super versatile because you can wear both the dress and the sweater in so many different ways. For example, last weekend I wore this sweater with denim shorts and cute sandals to the movies with my boyfriend. It was the perfect “movie” look. You can also wear this dress by itself without the sweater and you won’t be sweating as much. Or, with a belt and sneakers. There are so many different ways to rock both items…

Since it will most likely continue to be sunny and hot outside, I plan to continue wearing what I want! I encourage you to do the same… who cares about the weather!
