We have all been there – it’s 5 p.m. and we’re about to head out the door to happy hour, but don’t want to walk in wearing a drab work outfit. If you run home and change, you miss happy hour, but if you don’t switch things up – you run the risk of looking too serious in an environment that’s supposed to be fun.

So what do you do?

Start off by wearing a fun pencil skirt to work. Not only is it a career staple, but it’s also a great piece to wear when transitioning from work-to-happy hour wear. Why? Because it’s conservative enough for work, yet can easily be dressed up/down for just about any occasion. All you have to do is change up your accessories and voilà – you have a completely different outfit.

I love the design of this pretty skirt – it’s slim, tailored and eye catching. I kept it the focal point of my outfit by styling it with a simple top and accessories, but you could go in a completely different direction and style yours with a shimmery top and evening shoes or, with an oversized tank top, gladiator flats and a crossbody bag.

Unfortunately, I couldn’t find the sandals and skirt online because I bought it a couple months ago, but I did find a similar skirt from Ann Taylor LOFT that’s SO adorable (see below) or this black/white one on sale for $40 (plus, take an additional 40% off today!). Check it out and if you like, buy it and then share your photo with me in the comment section below (I think you can do that, right?)!

Make it a great day…

Xo, Stephanie
