I tried on this button-down shirt a couple of months ago at Ann Taylor, but didn’t buy it because it was full price. So the second I spotted it at T.J. Maxx for like a third of the price, I got excited. Like real excited.

Initially, I envisioned wearing it with a pencil skirt, but decided that was kind of boring so I paired it with a pair of distressed denim instead. I threw in a pair of funky heels in the same color family (i.e. blues with blues) to spice things up and a orange clutch to break things up.

Fun fact: If you’re ever wondering what colors go together, refer to a color wheel. It’s the quickest way to see what color works best with what you’re wearing… or what color “compliments” it. By “complimentary,” I mean whatever color is on the opposite side of the color wheel (i.e. black and white, red and blue, purple and yellow, green and mauve…).

You can also wear different shades of the same color or similar colors – like what I’m doing above – to achieve a cohesive look.

Still stuck? Visit Pinterest.com to see how other people are styling the same color, then make note of it and try to replicate it on your own. I do this all the time – for both colors and outfit ideas.

Per usual, I digress… lol

ANYWAYS, so sorry I’ve been MIA on my blog this week. I don’t have an excuse other than the fact that I’ve been struggling with WRITER’S BLOCK like BIG time lately. I’m not one to write just anything on my blog so I figured the best way to overcome it was to take a step back to help churn up some inspiration. Anyone else been there?

Needless to say, I’m back and have a TON on the way over the next couple of weeks. From Marshalls to Bloomingdales, known designers to new designers, I’m covering a lot on The Style Bungalow. Stay tuned…

Have a great Monday everyone!

Xo, Stephanie

P.S. – Ann Taylor has an identical shirt on their website for 50% off (use code: CYBER50). It’s not the same price I paid for at T.J. Maxx, but close enough!
