Self-Portrait Love

DRESS, HEELS (similar here), CLUTCH (similar here and here): Nordstrom

Ah, December 1st. The start of the best month of the year. The air is crisp. The town is bustling with new faces from all over. And my bank account is dwindling…

… from buying gifts.

Yeah right.

Let’s be real. Every. Single. Time. I visit Nordstrom, I find something cute, like this Self-Portrait dress, and buy it without hesitation. Besides, ‘tis the season for Art Basel and holiday parities so dresses like this one come in handy. Trust me…

Last year, I featured a Self-Portrait dress and within days of posting the look to Instagram, went viral. It made me realize how amazing Han Chong’s designs were and how many women appreciate them. The intricacies, the tailoring, the strategic placement of lace, embroidery and sheer overlays in areas that highlight a woman’s figure so well and the colors… the vibrant use of color!

Since then, I’ve managed to pick up a few Self-Portrait dresses, including this one that was bought on impulse from Nordstrom Designer because… #confessionsofashopaholic

Chong’s price points, though not exactly cheap, are appealing enough to buy at least one dress to last a few seasons. Making him a designer to watch over the next couple of years… Celebrities like Queen Bey to Reese Witherspoon to Kristin Stewart rock his stuff. And bloggers like Chiara Ferragni and Aimee Song causally pop up on Instagram tagging #SelfPortrait in their posts…

To style, toss on a leather jacket for a “leather-meets-lace” look. Or, wear alone with statement shoes. If you’re in the market, let me suggest the ‘Hangisi’ Jewel Pump by Manolo Blahnik. I’ve been on the hunt (like a famished tiger in the wild) for a yellow pair for years. But every time, they sell out.

What I love about these shoes are the bejeweled buckle-like ornament that sparkles every time you walk. They are pointy toe (which make your legs look super long) and satin, the perfect companion to any Self-Portrait dress.

Keep the accessories minimal to let the dress + shoes do the talking. I love Loewe’s ‘Knot’ Lambskin clutch this season or Saint Laurent’s Tuxedo Plexiglass clutch.

Signing off because – woah, Basel is right around the corner and my inbox is bursting at the seams! Planning to spend my evening working (and they say bloggers have it easy) and taking a bubble bath with a glass of wine (whilst admiring my new dress).
