When it comes to shopping for clothing, I take the following into consideration: fit, fabric and color.

I know what works well with my shape and what doesn’t. I keep a list of brands that fit me (without tailoring) and guarantee good craftsmanship (i.e. they last!) and shop from those stores. If clothing doesn’t fit, I take it to a tailor…

Fabric is also very important to me. No joke – it has to feel good when I touch it! My boyfriend and I joked around about this a couple weekends ago when we were shopping. I literally touched every single garment, grabbed the fabric and ever so lightly crunched it up to see if it wrinkled or felt scratchy. This is my test. Only after it has passed this test, I’ll try it on. If it doesn’t, I won’t even bother.

That’s why I love these two pieces by Theory from Neiman Marcus so much. My skirt is made out of a high-quality suede fabric and fits me perfectly (Theory has Petite sizing). My top is silk and drapes nicely over my body…

Skin tone and hair color also play a major factor in my shopping. Certain colors like pink, green, light yellow, navy blue, white and cream compliment me. Colors like orange, black, tan, and bright yellow wash me out.

Since pink is a warm tone, it can be matched with other warm colors like green. It also looks nice against my skin (which is a warm tone) and with my hair color.

    • Thanks! It’s helped me a lot! I usually don’t even pay attention to trends – I follow those three rules first and then consider the trend last! Let me know how it goes! Xo
