[Cassandra Eldridge Photography] SWEATER: Ronny Kobo/JEANS: Current Elliott/BAG: Valentino/HEELS: Schutz – all c/o of CENTURY 21 Department Stores One of my favorite parts of New York Fashion Week is seeing what all the fashion bloggers attending the shows are wearing (duh!) – yep, I’m talking about the street style. Street style, for those of you who aren’t familiar with the concept, is nothing more than someone’s day-to-day style. Popular at fashion shows, it’s a great way to see how others are using trends and what’s hittin’ the “streets.” I love it because it’s a type of fashion that’s personal to you. It allows you to show off your personality while still being trendy and cool. It can be controversial (think: the girls who wear the most ridiculous outfits to get attention), glamorous (think: Olivia Palmero) or preppy (think: Julia Engel from blog, Gal Meets Glam). It’s your own style. It’s what you feel most comfortable in. I couldn’t help but draw inspiration from the street style scenes this past week at New York Fashion Week and put together a head-to-toe look from Century 21 that feels like… well… me. At heart, I’m a jean girl. 5-inch heels make me REALLY happy. (Get these bad boys on sale here.) I believe you shouldn’t try too hard when it comes to fashion (hence the slouchy sweater) and splurge on designer accessories (because they never go out of style). That’s what I feel most comfortable in. And I’m not afraid to admit that… or that I have a problem compulsively hoarding heels. Whatever. Above all, being yourself is perhaps the most important element to street style… and well, life really. I think what inspires me the most with street style is seeing a woman who confidently expresses herself and rocks it. Right? Because who doesn’t love that?! Have a great Thursday. Xo, Stephanie
Street style is my favourite and everyone’s is so different and if done properly you can totally tell how amazing a person feels with their street style. I’m trying to get my wardrobe to a place where I can where EXACTLY what I want to wear everyday. I’ve noticed I feel like I walk taller and more confident whenever I wear a blazer, button up shirt, or a heeled boot or flat. http://www.dressupchowdown.com Reply
