You don’t have strict rules. Or red tape. You don’t have to ask for permission. You can do whatever you want. And if that means one day you’re “chic and preppy” and the next day you’re “grungy and goth,” then so be it. That’s what style is about. And if your style isn’t evolving, you’ll never grow as a “fashion blogger,” as I like to think. Yep, if you think this post is about me and my recent style changes… you’re right. In case you haven’t figured out by now, I’ve been drawing a TON of inspiration from the late 80s to early 90’s. And it looks like I’m not the only one. Nearly every designer who presented at Fashion Week this season felt the same way. So yes, the 90s are officially back! And all those ridiculous trends we use to joke about three-four years ago (scrunchies, shoulder pads, fanny packs, etc.) have made a major come back. #YAS I’ve been predicting this for about a year now! A few weeks ago, I chopped off more hair and into what I like to call an asymmetrical “bob.” The same haircut my mom has. She’s had it for 30 years. The same haircut I vowed I would never get. Because I would look like my mom. Who loved the 80s and 90s. And look at me now. Bear with me, this will come full circle. I promise. I don’t know if it’s nostalgic or what? But I am IN LOVE with this trend lately and rest assure you, will not be switching decades any time soon. At least for another two weeks. But back to today’s inspiration. Earlier this week, Vogue released a series called “Workin’ 9 to 5….” It featured a number of famous models wearing stylish 80s-90s getups to the song by Dolly Parton. There’s a message behind it. I’ll let you read more about it here. Anyways, I watched it a millions times, showed my photographer and said, “let’s do it.” So without further ado my friends, here’s my take on the latest trend and of course, Vogue’s epic mini-series.
