Hola, Mérida!

DRESS: Alexis (c/o) Shopbop/EARRINGS: Kenneth Jay Lane (c/o) Shopbop

Hola from Mérida, Mexico!

Today I’m reporting live from the most beautiful Airbnb I’ve ever seen. (Yes, I promise to disclose the location at the end of my trip! Please hang tight!) You have NO idea how excited I am to finally be here. I’ve been dying to explore this colorful Yucatan town for years but have never had the proper resources to do it (you know, share epic outfits + bring my photographer and boyfriend with me). So last month, I finally pulled the trigger (cue: last month’s creative plateau) in hopes of a new destination spurring inspiration. AND IT’S WORKING!

Slow Down, Go Fast

DRESS: Jacquemus/SANDALS: save, spend splurge/BAG: Cult Gaia/EARRINGS: Oscar de la Renta

As I’ve grown older, I’ve found one the best ways to set yourself up for a great week is to give yourself the weekends off – meaning lots of rejuvenating and restoring! #HelloSunshine #HelloNetflix

One of the other ways I’m learning to set myself up for success (this year) is to say no. Being a natural people pleaser slash go-getter, I have a tendency to over-do it and take on too many projects or attend too many events which deplete my energy and at times, my creativity. This is part of the reason why I’ve decided to skip Fashion Week this season…

Wishlist: Swimwear

This season, I’m skipping Fashion Week to explore the Bahamas and Merida, Mexico. It was a hard decision but ultimately, one that makes the most sense for The Style Bungalow! (Think: big fluffy coats vs. tropical goodness) I CAN’T WAIT!

That said, I’m in dire need of new swimwear. Like stat! So I hopped on over to Shopbop.com, one of my favorite destinations for all things contemporary fashion, and found a few suits I couldn’t help but share with you all!

You’ll see a few from Marysia (a former ballet dancer) and the rest from trusted designers like, Karla Colletto and Patbo. Enjoy and let me know which ones are your favorites!

Musings on 2018

BLOUSE: (c/o) Shopbop/SHORTS/SANDALS (more options here)/CLUTCH: (c/o) Neiman Marcus/EARRINGS, NECKLACE

My boyfriend lives in Miami so almost every weekend, I’m there. This weekend, he left for a work trip which meant staying in Palm Beach… a first for me in a long time. 10 months ago, my weekends consisted of working out, shopping, cleaning my apartment and occasionally going out with friends. Writing, too. Now, I make a consorted effort to log off when I’m in Miami and operate on autopilot. Cozy up to my boyfriend. We cook together. Spend quality time… and it’s lovely.

Although somewhat lonely, I loved how those #singledays forced me to reflect on everything from life to family to career to personal choices. I had no distractions. It was just me and my tiny apartment. This weekend, I did just that – reflect…

Singin’ The Blues

BLOUSE, SKIRT: Self-Portrait via Nordstrom/HEELS: similar/BAG: more options here/LIP COLOR: “Heat Wave” by NARS

Today I feel like singin’ the blues. Because I love this look!

I’m also pretty pumped to start shopping again! This time for me. And this time, at Nordstrom. With so many designer goodies at your fingertips, it’ll be easy to spend my gift cards all at one place. Cha-ching!

But before I go into a rant about how excited I am to start shopping, let’s chat about today’s look.

NYE Party Inspo

Sparkle, lights, music, champagne and good ole’ razzle dazzle means one thing – New Year’s Eve! Oh, how I love the one night out of the year where living like The Great Gatsby is more than acceptable – it’s encouraged!

Finding a dress to wear on one of the most glamourous nights of the year is serious business. That’s why I got you with today’s post. I’ve selected a handful of dresses from River Island because their price points are great – aka – you won’t feel guilty spending your hard-earned-GIRLBOSS cash on a dress you will probably only wear once.

So with that said, here are some of my favorites…

A Pink Christmas!

GOWN: Alexis (here and here)/BAG: (old)/HEELS: (c/o) River Island/EARRINGS: (c/o) BaubleBar (similar here and here)

Merry Christmas everyone! Today has been magical.

TRUTH: I’ve been a complete homebody. Loungin’ around in PJs, watching holiday movies and sipping on some hot cocoa because Houston decided to get cold – like, out of nowhere. The other day it was 70. Now it’s like 20 degrees. #soconfused Good thing I brought a leather jacket with me!

Season’s Greetings!

BLOUSE: Caroline Constas/PANTS: Blank NYC/SLINGBACKS: Express/BAG: (c/o) Zac Posen/EARRINGS: Oscar de la Renta

As if you haven’t heard Season’s Greetings enough.

Oh. M. Gee. I’ve spent the past couple of days in a state of pure bliss complete with one spa day, my boyfriend’s arrival to Houston and no emails.

The more I grow older, the more I realize the holidays are less about presents and more about the mental break you receive. My mom asked me, “what do you want this year for Christmas?” of which I replied, “to spend time with family and relax.” Between running this blog and maintaining “some sort” of social life, it’s been quite the year. But I’ll touch on this subject later next week when we talk about dun, dun, dun… New Year’s resolutions (which I’m actually not a big fan of but nevertheless, participate in every year.)

K, let’s talk fashion now.

Consignment Secrets

BLOUSE, PANTS, SANDALS: (c/o) Shopbop/BAG: (c/o) SnobSwap/EARRINGS: (c/o) Mercedes Salazar (similar here)/SUNNIES: Ray-Ban

Growing up, I didn’t have a ton of resources so I would get creative and turn to consignment stores to buy designer. Every now and then, I would find gems. Other times, not so much but it was the thrill of the hunt that kept me going back for more. #ConfessionsOfAShopaholic

As I grew older and my taste matured (slash my bank account grew bigger because #adult), my consignment store hunts morphed from meh to awesome. Case in point: the time I found rare Ferragamo loafers, my first pair of Chanel earrings (you can never have too much Chanel!), my favorite Hermes twilly, my first Gucci top handle bag and let’s not forget the Louis Vuitton tote (real, with tags) that was tossed out because someone was tired of it and like a famished tiger in the jungle, I pounced on in like one second.
