Singin’ The Blues

BLOUSE, SKIRT: Self-Portrait via Nordstrom/HEELS: similar/BAG: more options here/LIP COLOR: “Heat Wave” by NARS

Today I feel like singin’ the blues. Because I love this look!

I’m also pretty pumped to start shopping again! This time for me. And this time, at Nordstrom. With so many designer goodies at your fingertips, it’ll be easy to spend my gift cards all at one place. Cha-ching!

But before I go into a rant about how excited I am to start shopping, let’s chat about today’s look.

Shopping Season!

Ok, so last week I mentioned how one of my goals for this holiday season was to shop early. #check

This week, I’m sharing a post for those of you who (like me in previous years) leave shopping to the last minute. Because let’s be real: with the craziness of the holiday season, the task of shopping for your loved ones can feel a bit overwhelming. And taking into consideration everyone’s personal style and taste… seems impossible, especially if you’re from my family.

Last month, I was introduced to Clare Viver’s holiday collection at Nordstrom. As soon as I saw it, I knew it would be the perfect topic for those of you who experience the same problem. There was a style for everyone… your mom, sister, aunt, bestie. Literally everyone.

But first a little background…

7 For Mankind Jeans

In approximately four days, Art Basel starts. In approximately twenty-two days, Christmas Eve is here. And in twenty-nine days, a new year begins.

To say I’m stressed is an understatement. Once again, my schedule is overflowing with amazing events, holiday parties and family gatherings. No complaints but this time of year also means I seek complete comfort on my days off. Like, comfortable jeans.

Aside from seeking comfy jeans, I strive to find jeans that flatter my petite figure. Contrary to what you see on Instagram (angles, guys), my legs aren’t that long. They are slim which helps, sure. But they aren’t insanely long. The key to my leg-lengthening looks lies in the tailoring. Let me explain…

Self-Portrait Love

DRESS, HEELS (similar here), CLUTCH (similar here and here): Nordstrom

Ah, December 1st. The start of the best month of the year. The air is crisp. The town is bustling with new faces from all over. And my bank account is dwindling…

… from buying gifts.

Yeah right.

Let’s be real. Every. Single. Time. I visit Nordstrom, I find something cute, like this Self-Portrait dress, and buy it without hesitation. Besides, ‘tis the season for Art Basel and holiday parities so dresses like this one come in handy. Trust me…

One Blazer, Two Ways Pt. 2

BLAZER, SILK BLOUSE (similar styles here and here), SHORTS, TENNIS SHOES (similar styles here and here), NUDE HEELS, BAG, WATCH: Nordstrom

Haaapppppppy Cyber Monday! Looking for a list of sales? Click here.

Ok, so last week I talked about investment pieces and why I splurge on items like this blazer. (Click here to read it.) I also promised to re-style it. Why? Because I know once you see this blazer again, buy it, you’ll love it forever, just as I do because it’s so versatile…

One Blazer, Two Ways Pt. 1

Trust me, I’ve been there. When I first started working in PR, my salary was a joke. I BARELY made enough to eat cover my living expenses much less go shopping. The times I shopped, I bought my clothing from fast-fashion stores or from the “affordable” department at Nordstrom (you know which one I’m talking about). Never – never – never – ever designer.

I’d skip by designer and think to myself, “one day I’ll upgrade my wardrobe… hopefully by the time I’m 30.”

Self-Worth it

DRESS: Self-Portrait/BAG: Gucci – similar here, here and here/SANDALS: Gucci/EARRINGS: vintage Chanel/HAT: similar here

I must admit, today’s outfit was a bit of an “impulse” buy. As I was scrolling through Nordstrom for outfits to feature during the Takeover, I saw this dress by Self-Portrait and without hesitation clicked, “add to shopping bag.” Why? Because every time I wear a Self-Portrait dress, I not only feel feminine and beautiful, but so impressed with the quality. Therefore, making the dress 100% worth it.

(Heads up, this dress runs small – I’m wearing an XS and it fits me perfectly but I’m also very petite. If you’re worried about sizing, I suggest ordering a size up or ordering two/returning one. Nordstrom has a fantastic return policy!)

More midis, please!

SWEATER, MIDI SKIRT, GUCCI SANDALS: Nordstrom/GUCCI BAG: love this one here, here and here/WATCH: (c/o) Michele Watches/EARRINGS: vintage Chanel

Heavy in rotation for the past few years since starting my blog, midi skirts have become one of my all-time favorite closet staples. I have like ten. Maybe twenty? #ThisIsANoJudgementZone They’re fresh and feminine. Demure and proper. And like a hunter in the wild, I can spot them a mile away at department stores, just like I did with this designer version from ALC. #attack

I’m BACK! Back in beautiful, beautiful Florida. I’ve been in Dallas the past four days attending a blogger conference called #rStheCon. From brand meetings to classes on ways I can grow + expand my blog to cocktail parties and late night dinners with (new and old) friends, it’s been a whirlwind. I’m wiped out. So much in fact, that I’ve completely lost my voice. Not sure if it’s from allergies or exhaustion? Or the copious amounts of champagne all weekend? Either way, I need some serious rest.

So effortless…

BUTTON-DOWN, SHORTS, SANDALS, BAG – similar here, here and here, SUNNIES: (c/o) Nordstrom

Tucked in. Tucked out. Tied in a bow. Tied in a knot. Nothing is more chic (and easy to style) than a white button-down. I firmly believe it’s a wardrobe essential. I own like 10. I have one for meetings, one for lazy days, one for the pool and beach, etc. etc. Each button-down has a different look and feel to it; adding instant polish to whatever it is I’m wearing that day. And each one, I’ve worn over and over and over! Thus, making it a great investment!

Simply put, a white button-down belongs in your closet. Don’t have one? Don’t worry…
