Holiday events. Work deadlines. Lunches. Dinners. Photoshoots. Throw in Florida’s sporadic change in temps. Let’s just say my hair (and hopes) have been experiencing an influx of challenges and changes. It’s probably no surprise that I’ll switch up my hair care regime (again) as needed because listen, good hair doesn’t happen by chance – it’s a commitment I like to keep! Plus, a great day usually almost always has to do with good hair.
Here’s to the serious treat yourselfers! I get it, this list may not be for everyone, but it is certainly for someone. And let’s be honest, you probably wouldn’t ask just anyone to drop this much on you…so sometimes you gotta make your own dreams come true!
It’s the most wonderful time of the year…to treat yourself.
You’ve had a busy 2018 and blazed through it beautifully.
You’ve been your greatest cheerleader and showed up especially when times got tough.
You’ve shopped for everyone on your list.
Now who’s left but you?
You deserve it and that means the best, too.
Yas, y o u.
Fashion photography overload.
My head’s still spinning from the three week photography course I took at Istituto Marangoni Miami: photo editing, content planning and shooting models all the while wrestling my normal day-to-day. Even with the nerve-wrecking moments + late nights working, I couldn’t be more thankful to have stepped back for three weeks. The course added so much value to the passion work I get to do… every single day. I haven’t felt this fulfilled in quite some time…
Let’s hit rewind.
I can’t believe it’s that time of the year! We’re swapping out pumpkin spice for peppermint mocha, like how did time fly by so quickly?! When I think about winter in Florida, I have to actually remind myself that it’s winter. Blame it on the warm temps that fluctuate between 90s to low 60s on a “cold” day. I love it. But you guys know that!
Wow, where has the time and month gone?
I’m in the middle of Miami’s buzzy scenes and sounds, wrapping up my last few days in the most intensive photography course I’ve ever taken (but so rewarding) before I head off to Houston for a much needed break over the holidays.
My mom told me the other day, “it’s so cold here!” Which has me thinking of being wrapped up in comfy sweaters all day, curled up sipping hot tea with zero to-do’s (with the exception of my sister’s wedding). Doesn’t sound so bad, right? (happy sigh)
Last week I talked about the variety of color blocking and the fun ways I like styling it this fall. But here’s the thing, as much as I love bright colors, timeless neutrals also hold a special place in my heart (and closet!). So while we rotate into the new season it’s easy for me to put things in neutral (like automatically). Why? Because seasonless and sleekness are def. great things to keep in your wardrobe, too. Name one good reason you wouldn’t – I’ll wait.
(Oh, and don’t let the word “neutral” and its blah undertones mislead you…)
BELT: vintage, from my moms closet
I used to think I’d only be able to tell or enjoy the change of season through Starbucks’ seasonal favorites. #Floridaprobs
But since I’ve been going back and forth to NYC for meetings slash shooting content (get ready for some big changes before the end of the year!) I’ve had the luxury of experiencing the beauty of fall first-hand.
And with business and leisure in mind during my travels, it makes total sense to rock ‘em fitting power suits (I told you I would, remember?). There’s so many aesthetic twists and turns with suits. Think: slim waist, boxy shoulders; nautical ones with buttons all the way down; completely tailored types. Most suit trends and shapes are being influenced by us women. #GirlPower Now, you know why I’m building my suit collection. #wink Plus, They’re even perfect for fall/winter trips to iconic London or romantic Paris… (hint: is that something we should consider?) I mean let me add another layer, a beret and teleport there now!
