Having just returned from Merida and now landing in this slice of paradise, I knew I’d be re-inspired all over again. What I didn’t realize was how much old world charm inhabited this 26 mile string of islands making up Bermuda. I was surprised and inspired by its colonial style and history. I’ve realized that chasing and finding unique texture and intricate details within cities, buildings and homes have become something I truly enjoy and treasure. My favorite was when we pulled up to a pretty pink palatial building warmed by lush palm leaves and smiles, the “Pink Palace” aka the Hamilton Princess, a place “where history meets modern sensibility.” It’s actually one of Bermuda’s oldest and most iconic resorts – the first to be part of the Fairmont hotel collection in 1885. This crescent shaped, private cove on Sinky Bay wasn’t just wonderful because of the weather and hospitality, but their signature water hammocks, glistening pink sands and crystal blue waters made for quite the vision. It’s the perfect spot to perch up and read, listen to some podcasts I’ve been meaning to catch up on…and, yes break for ice cream because vacation. Time definitely escaped me here and before I knew it, it was already time to head back to the hotel. I guess you can say I made myself right at home. And whenever I was slightly hungry or in need of a small treat or two, Fairmont Gold Lounge (with private check-in) had all the snacks ready throughout the day, breakfast, afternoon tea/beverages and evening canapés. It was my go-to in the middle of the day and right before dinner time! Because when you’re on vacation, snacks and calories don’t count, right? Swim: Marysia I must say I’ve never been to a resort that’s housed so much artwork either (think: Andy Warhol, Banksy, Damien Hirst, Takashi Murakami and more). In ways, I’d forget I was even at one because it felt like I was walking through a museum! Dress: Mara Hoffman Bag: (c/o) Aranaz Sandals: By FAR Our last dinner was spent at one of Hamilton Princess’ restaurants, Marcus’ by Marcus Samuelsson, a world-renowned chef. And wow, his fried cauliflower barbecue dish was delicious! I’d also recommend the sashimi starter for something healthy, fresh infused with island flavors. It was a memorable experience! Swim: (c/o) MyTheresa Hat: L*Space As we drove through the narrow, winding roads I noticed how most of the island was elevated – lined with beautiful cliffs bathed in turquoise waters crashing on pink sands, dripping in lush greenery and florals all year long. Almost every house shared a pastel color palette paired with white rooftops. And I’m convinced a majority of these homes have a view of the North Atlantic Ocean (yup, not Caribbean!). Sigh, “How nice!” Dress: (c/o) Waimari Bag: (c/o) Valena Sandals: By FAR I’ve never seen the ocean quite like I have here; met such sweet locals and hoteliers. I was happy I decided to jet over and enjoy a brief weekend at the Hamilton Princess & Beach Club…on island time. I loved the little details in all the interiors and the older historical buildings – I certainly picked up on the colonial style. Now, hopping on a quick 2.5 hour flight home to Miami; kicking things back into gear for August! Oh yes, and wedding details that I promised to share – coming soon! Stephanie, I am curious if you had to alter this skirt in any way to accommodate your petite frame. Thanks for any info. We traveled to Bermuda this year and also loved the Hamilton Princess’s high end art in its lobbies. Fell in love with Bermuda. Reply
