Ending the Year in Style

A new year means a fresh take on style, right?

In a year where sweatpants, pajamas and athleisure have increasingly dominated the fashion industry, it’s tempting to imagine that these ‘comfortable staples’ will devolve into an even more pajama-like style come 2021. I think we’re all ready for a different direction, am I right? Perhaps a renewed interest on (the occasion of) ‘dressing up’ and bringing back a bit of “style” into our lives. Insiders predict 2021 will (undoubtedly) be better than 2020 (*says prayer*), but the effects of the pandemic have left many people craving quality over quantity, a recurring theme in this year’s content (born — coincidentally — out of the need to edit my own closet and build a capsule wardrobe that makes sense longterm)…

The pandemic has created a new opportunity within the fashion industry to rethink the relationship between our materials to the production and consumption of each collection(s). I envision my wardrobe will continue to be rooted in the classics, mixed with vintage and sustainable pieces; individual items that can be repurposed, dressed up or down as needed… again, the emphasis on quality over quantity

Then, a beautiful handbag or sexy heels — to style it up and give a sense of individuality on special occasions to…let’s say…your “wardrobe classics” like your favorite LBD, white trousers or camel blazer, aka well-made investment items that are timeless.

That’s why brands like Brahmin continue to remain a huge part of my wardrobe. The brand never cuts quality or craftsmanship, and I always catch myself falling for their petite/mini bags. The classic Luxe Mini Francine in a smooth black leather did it for me this month (a textured option here)! Besides, this unique satchel is adorned with intricate Swarovski crystals (from the highest sustainability standards) and adds that extra touch of sparkle to your whole look — even if you’re wearing a roomy dress, silky pajamas and beyond! And that’s what classic pieces are about.
